Charles Chaim

Prata - MG

Chaim moves to Uberlândia at 16, where he subsequently studied journalism. He worked as a reporter and video editor, without neglecting his other passion, the theater. Acted in some amateur groups like actor and scenographer. The work with scenography boosted his interest in the visual arts. His first exhibition was also an awake on how to take better advantage of trash.  Working with collage and painting, he used pizza wrappers to honor the seventh art. Artistic experiments continued with others recyclable materials. In the hands of the artist, shoe boxes turned into religious oratories and paper bags into colored panels. Fifteen years ago he began to paint canvases. Passionate about mass culture, Chaim found in pop art the way to express himself. His portraits, the artist favorites, earned him important exhibitions in Brasilia, São Paulo, Paris and New York. In 2010 he was awarded the Glass Magazine Content Award for Best Artist. Currently lives in São Paulo, SP.
